What to expect from your first job
Straight answers, so you know what you are walking into.
What it pays
Most first roles in retail, hospitality and admin start between Rs 14,000 and Rs 19,000 a month, plus transport in many cases.
The hours
Shops and hotels work in shifts, including weekends. Office roles are usually 8.30 to 4.30, Monday to Friday.
What employers look for
Turning up on time, speaking politely to customers and being willing to learn. Experience is not the first thing on the list.
